SSgt. US Army (retired) Van Booth stopped at Camp Toccoa at Currahee
on his “Walk Across America”
Booth started his walk in California and will end it at Myrtle Beach at the end of 2019. Camp Toccoa was mile 2819 for Van. He walked up Currahee in the dark so he could see the sunrise on Currahee the morning of Dec 7 to honor those who died on that date during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Van spent the night of Dec 7 at Camp Toccoa at Currahee as a Scout group was camping there already. Both the Scout group and Camp Toccoa at Currahee were proud to have Van stay overnight at the Camp.
The one photo below is Van signing the visitor log at Camp Toccoa at Currahee, the other is his cart that he has pushed all the way from California. He purchased Camp Toccoa original wood with CTaC coins to celebrate his visit.
