CAMP TOCCOA at Currahee D-DAY WEEKEND
 JUNE 2nd & 3rd 2023

D-Day marks one of the most significant dates in the history of WWII with the invasion of Normandy. Many of the soldiers involved with that operation trained at Camp Toccoa.

D-Day weekend at Camp Toccoa at Currahee is a time where we salute those brave individuals and all who served our country. It is also a time for those interested in the Camp and it's mission to come together to support the effort by attending our Banquet and / or run up Currahee Mountain.

Camp Toccoa at Currahee is thrilled and honored to announce

our guest speaker for the banquet.

Marianne Malarkey McNally, daughter of WWII Easy Company member Don Malarkey.

About Marianne Malarkey McNally

Marianne McNally is the daughter of Don Malarkey, a well-known veteran of World War II. Her father rose to prominence as a member of Easy Company, an elite airborne unit of the United States Army, which was depicted in the popular television miniseries "Band of Brothers."

McNally has followed in her father's footsteps and has dedicated her life to preserving the legacy of the brave soldiers who served in the war. She is a historian and speaker, regularly speaking at events to educate the public about the sacrifices made by the men and women who served their country. McNally's passion for history and commitment to honoring her father and his fellow soldiers has earned her widespread respect and admiration.

At the banquet Marianne plans to show a video filmed by HBO and never viewed publicly. Marianne will be available for a book signing beginning at 5:30PM.

About the book

Bob Welch published the story of Don Malarkey and Fritz Engelbert in the book "Saving My Enemy,” which details her father's journey to understand and come to terms with their experiences in the war and giving forgiveness to each other.

Through extensive research and personal reflection, Welch, the McNally Family, and the Engelbert family delve into the complexities of war and the human cost it exacts. Welch puts it all together in a very touching, personal story of Malarkey and Engelbert.

The book provides a unique perspective on the aftermath of combat and the lifelong effects it can have on soldiers and their families. "Saving My Enemy" has received widespread acclaim and has been praised for its honesty, compassion, and insight. McNally's and Engelbert's work is a testament to their commitment to preserving the memory of those who have served and to exploring the human impact of war.
